KEY ASPECTS FOR COMPARING AND CHOOSING A CRANE
Beyond the Purchase Price
The EN 12999 standard sets the minimum design, safety, and manufacturing requirements for articulated hydraulic cranes, but within that framework, each manufacturer decides how to build its product range. Since the 2022 revision, the catalog must also provide this information. Comparing cranes solely by purchase price leaves out variables that determine how well the equipment will perform throughout its lifespan.
How many work cycles can your crane withstand?
The "S" class indicates the number of full-load work cycles the crane can withstand: the higher the class, the longer its lifespan.
Why does the load activation method matter?
It regulates how the crane behaves with the load in motion, depending on the type of assembly and activation method. A lesser-known but crucial factor in workplace safety.
Comparing tonnages at the same reach
Tonnages are only comparable if measured at the same hydraulic reach. A crane loaded at 0 meters is not comparable to one loaded at 5 meters.
The space your vehicle needs
The geometry of the booms affects the short-range power, and the folded dimensions determine the space required for assembly.
Price, lifespan, dynamic effects, load capacity, and design are all part of the same decision. At Transgrúas, we help you evaluate each of these factors according to your specific needs.
