Transgrúas, as a collaborating partner of Ascatravi, actively participates in the different days dedicated to the world of bodywork and transformation of the industrial vehicle
On October 3rd we attended the technical conference organized by ASCATRAVI (www.ascatravi.org) for its partners, in order to analyze how the entry into force on September 1st of the new emission measurement protocol (WLTP) affects us ) in commercial and industrial vehicles with light and heavy engines.
The new emission approval framework requires manufacturers to declare more accurately the consumption and g / km of CO2 emitted by their vehicles before being registered.
For vehicles with diesel engines approved as “light”, the first phase manufacturers have created theoretical calculation tools with which the bodybuilders, based on four variables (frontal area, mass, area of the calender and rolling coefficient of the tires), write down the final value of g of CO2 per km that each vehicle emits on the technical data sheets. This will be done frame by frame and the body limits that have been defined in the variables used cannot be exceeded.
For this reason and to avoid obtaining vehicles that cannot be legalized, it is recommended that a preliminary feasibility study be carried out for each frame in collaboration with the first phase manufacturer.
In the case of vehicles with “heavy” diesel engine, it will be the first phase manufacturer, who, knowing the final mass of the vehicle, will deliver this value to the bodybuilder.
During the day, we could also clarify the different concepts and definitions that are introduced in this regulation as well as learn first hand the interpretation of the national approval authority for the processes of individual homologation and reform.
