THE BILBAO METRO INCORPORATES THE FIRST 100% ELECTRIC FASSI CRANE WITH HST (Hybrid Smart Technology)

A pioneering project developed in collaboration with Cogrúas.

Last Thursday, November 13th, the official presentation of the first fully electric Fassi knuckle boom crane equipped with Hybrid Smart Technology (HST) took place at the Bilbao Metro workshops in Sopela.

The knuckle boom crane, a Fassi F195A.0.25 e-active, was acquired for use on the Bilbao Metro and supplied by Transgrúas Cial, through our representative in Asturias, Cogrúas.

Cogrúas was also responsible for mounting the crane on a fully restored 1990s metro car, developing a false frame on which the crane was installed and secured to the car itself.

The system, which operates 100% electrically, is powered by an electric pump connected to two lithium batteries. The crane can operate both on mains power and using the batteries, which have two chargers (for 16A and 32A outlets). In addition, Cogrúas designed an auxiliary hydraulic rescue system that allows operations to continue in the event of a power failure.

The Fassi Hybrid Smart Technology (HST) represents a significant step towards more sustainable, quieter, and more efficient machinery. Powered by low-voltage batteries (48V–51V), it allows for zero-emission and minimal-noise operation, complying with the electromagnetic compatibility standards of UN/ECE R10 regulations.

The system offers autonomy equivalent to 80% of a workday, with intelligent software that optimizes energy consumption and allows the batteries to be recharged both while the crane is in use and while the vehicle is in transit.

With this project, Transgrúas and Cogrúas marked a new milestone in the transition towards electric, efficient and sustainable industrial mobility, applying Fassi's technological innovation to the service of urban transport.
