KEY ASPECTS FOR CHOSSING A CRANE

How can we compare cranes performance? We talk you about the key points.

There are different factor to considere when buying a knuckle boom crane. If we take into account two of them, the efficiency and the lifetime (working cycles), there are three important aspects to talk about:

• One of the main aspects when choosing a crane is its lifetime: the definition of this word is : the equipment period of use until this is obsolete and can only be sold as scrap, for its residual value. What is going to prove the longevity of a crane is the class in which it has been made. S1 or S2: S1 are cranes made for achieving 32.000 working cycles and S2 will achieve 64.000. S2 equipment purchase: 110.000€
Lifetime: 20 años
Residual value 10.000€
Anual amortization: 5.000€

In this case we are talking about a robust crane which can work for 20 years with a daily sevice, maybe a Fassi medium/heavy range crane. 

Lets see another example with a less quality equipment, with a lower cost but also a lower lifetime, as happens with some Fassi competitors cranes.

S1 equipment purchase: 85.000€
Lifetime: 10 años
Residual value 5.000€
Anual amortization: 8.000€

It seems that the equipment is much more cheaper, but it is costing a 60% more each year. 

• Another aspect to take into account is the crane load performance (tn/m). We will find this detail in the Fassi load chards, in a transparent and precice way, but this not always happens. 

• And last but not least, is also very important to take into considerationis both the design and the crane dimensions: we have to value the crane arm's geometry because it affects directly into the crane load power and the total folded dimensions, which will affect the assembling space.
